Profhilo is a stabilised injectable hyaluronic acid indicated for the treatment of tissue remodelling and skin laxity, free of any chemical crosslinking agents. Anyone who presents with signs of skin ageing and is suitable for dermal filler treatment is also suitable for treatment with Profhilo.
Profhilo acts as a hydrator rather than a filler. This makes it fantastic for those with tired, dull-looking skin transforming it into a firm and luminous skin. This effect takes place within 3-5 days of treatment.
Over the next few weeks, collagen and elastin production is stimulated, producing a secondary effect of skin tightening.
The key to Profhilo’s popularity is a unique structure and balance of scientific properties, including a high cohesivity, that allow the product to flow freely through subcutaneous tissue and the dermis, in a way that traditional hyaluronic acid fillers cannot.

HOW DOES PROFHILO WORK?
Profhilo can be administered in a number of different ways although the most common and effective method is to use the BAP technique.
BAP stands for bio aesthetic points, which means five areas on each side of the face are injected, while this will vary slightly depending on your face shape the positions are usually on the lower part of the face.
This is done to help reduce the number of injections needed and to allow the Profhilo treatment to more effectively fight the signs of ageing.

THE PROFHILO TREATMENT JOURNEY
Profhilo is a doctor-only treatment as it is injectable. Your first step will be to book a doctor's consultation.
On the day of your consultation, your doctor will explain the treatment and advise if it is suitable for you. They will also recommend other treatments you may benefit from – often, clients have Botox for the upper face and Profhilo for mid/lower face as Profhilo is not used on the upper face area. Your doctor will also recommend which skincare products will work best to enhance your Profhilo result.

Providing there are no contraindications, you will be able to have your first Profhilo dose on the same day. Numbing cream can be applied to your skin for 10-15 minutes before treatment.
You will have a series of 5 injections on each side of the face, covering your mid and lower face.​ You will feel a stinging sensation on injection, and if you are concerned about the pain, we advise that as well as having the numbing cream you take two paracetamol tablets before your appointment providing you have no contraindications.
Immediately after, there will be small lumps on the face where the profile product has been injected; they will look like bee-stings and go down after around 30 minutes but can persist for up to 24 hours.

We advise you do not to put any products (including makeup) over the area treated for at least 6 hours.
Your practitioner will give your aftercare advice and will book you for your second dose in 4 weeks. You may start to see a gradual improvement in the skin over those four weeks, but it is usually not until the second dose the client will see the result.

What results can I expect? After two injectable treatments, spaced four weeks apart, you can expect to see a gradual intense hydration, improvement and tightness of the skin.
What happens at my consultation? At your consultation, we will take a medical history and discuss your areas of concern. Sometimes we may advise a combination of treatments to achieve the result you are looking for.
Any risks or side-effects? Not at all – Profhilo is a very safe treatment with no long-term negative effects. Following injection, you may naturally experience some slight redness or bruising, but this will typically fade away within a few hours and is nothing to be concerned about. To date, Profhilo has been applied to over a million patients worldwide with no known cases of patients suffering from any serious negative effects.
How long does Profhilo results last? Enjoy around 6 months to 1 year of increased firmness, elasticity and an overall improved quality in the skin.
What is bio-remodeling? Bio-remodeling is the technical term used to describe the process of creating new collagen and elastin in the skin. This has a profound effect in helping to reverse visible signs of ageing, such as lines, wrinkles, dullness or thinning skin. On the contrary, it also helps to restructure and restore, leading to a more rejuvenated and glowing complexion.
How quickly will I see results? The effects of Profhilo on the appearance of your skin are almost immediate. After just one treatment session, you will notice your skin looking revitalised and brighter. Profhilo then continues to work at a gradual, steady rate and over time you will notice a continuous improvement.
How many times is Profhilo treatment required? Typically, a Profhilo treatment process will consist of just two sessions conducted around one month apart. After around six months, if deemed necessary one more session can be performed to create an even more long-lasting effect.
What should I do after my Profhilo treatment? .No makeup for 6 hours after treatment • Refrain from any facials for two weeks • No heavy exercise for 24 hours after treatment • Be gentle when washing the filled area of your face, neck, chest, or hands • Try to avoid unnecessary touching of your face for the first 24 hours after treatment
